Scouts Donate Comfort Kits

Alyson Johnson and Anne Dupuis of Girl Scout Troop 591 (Springfield Service Unit) spent a good part of their summer vacation in service to others in our community.  To earn their Silver Award the girls worked together to create comfort kits--hand-made colorful cloth satchels that included a coloring book, children’s book, markers, crayons, and pencils.  In September the scouts traveled to one of our partner congregations, Mechanicsville, UMC, to deliver some of the kits.  Then on a recent day off from school Anne’s mom Patty, drove the girls to our office building  in Northside Richmond to deliver the balance of the kits (50!).  We will use the kits to entertain children while their parents are involved in their initial intake screenings.  Thank you girls!
