From Shelter to Stability
Intake
CARITAS accepts all new shelter guest exclusively through Commonwealth Catholic Charities Central Intake, the entry point for most anyone needing emergency shelter in the Richmond area. Central Intake is a compassionate, efficient approach to helping people who are in a housing crisis.
After completing an initial intake with the assistance of Central Intake staff, it will be determined if shelter space is available at CARITAS (or another emergency shelter provider). If a bed is available, a written referral will be provided, along with walking directions and shelter intake hours of operation.
We will not accept overnight guests who bypass Central Intake and arrive directly at our intake locations.
